Dublin, November 21 – Irish EU Climate Pact Ambassador and Doctor of Sustainable Diets Dr. Laura Kirwan will speak at COP29 on Thursday, November 21, leading a session on sustainable foodservice practices powered by technology.

As Sustainability Lead at Nutritics, an Irish-headquartered global leader in food data technology, and an expert in eco-friendly food systems, Dr. Kirwan will draw on her extensive experience to address the critical need for reducing the environmental footprint of the global food industry.

Dr. Kirwan’s presentation “Driving Efficiency and Sustainability in Food Service: How the Foodprint Tool Transforms Operations” is set to take place in the Blue Zone at COP29 that will this year be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, for 12 days of intense climate negotiations from November 11. Dr. Kirwan will deliver her address to delegates remotely.

The Laois native will focus her talk on actionable solutions to help foodservice operators worldwide achieve measurable environmental improvements in areas such as carbon and water footprints, while also improving operational efficiency.

Commenting on her address at COP29, Dr. Kirwan said: “It is an honour to address COP29 and share strategies that enable foodservice providers to align with sustainability targets without compromising on cost, quality or efficiency.”

“As a EU Pact Ambassador, my mission is to ensure that practical, data-driven solutions are available to every foodservice operator committed to reducing their climate impact. Together, we can create sustainable change across industries and borders.”

This year will be Dr. Kirwan’s second time to speak at the event, having spoken last year at COP28 in the UAE, where she helped play a role in achieving the first COP Sustainable Catering Strategy, the launch of a new Climate Conscious Catering initiative and other sustainability benchmarks.

This year, she will continue to champion the role of digital tools and Foodprint technology in transforming food service.
